Ontario-based band The Strumbellas have just dropped the newest single from their upcoming album, and if this new song is any indication of what the rest of the album will sound like, we can expect a rollicking folk-rock good time ahead.

Produced by Dave Schiff - known for working with the likes of Johnny Cash, Haim, and Weezer- Spirits sounds a bit like what would happen if you took a gospel choir and an indie rocker, got them a little drunk, and had them lay down a track together.

From the outset, the lead vocalist’s voice is crisp and irresistible. When the layered vocals come in during the chorus the stark contrast works to showcase the varied and impressive vocal stylings of the band. Although the lyrics may be a little simplistic and overly sentimental at times, the clarity of the chorus and throbbing percussive beat give Spirits the feel of an instant anthem. We predict this song will be a definite crowd-pleaser.
